Restored 1920′s Silo-Wet surprise shade, Circa 1920′s
Base Circa, 1880′s
Early 20th Century
My collection of period lamp shades is among the largest in North America.
The shades are at various stages of restoration, ranging from plain antique wire frame to fully completed restorations, to newly created custom creations.
When I take possession of vintage shades, usually displaying fabric remnants of eras past, most often I will leave them alone to fully decay. This process helps people better understand visually my work and the process of restoring the shade to being historically correct; my work is of the same style and quality of period 19th and 20th century lighting fabrication.
Clients can chose from an array of ready-to-go fully restored period shades, as well as finished custom creations that I have designed. Some creations are the result of collaborative work with friends who are also artisans.
My specialty is custom design and fabrication work that includes textile
period lighting, glass work and metal fabrication. I specialize in creative design solutions, including solving difficult technical barriers (wiring, fabrication, components, etc) and problems related to restoration and design.
On February 1, 2009, I introduced into my gallery the Goldstone Fairy Lamp. This miniature shade is the debut item in my newly created line of Goldstone Heritage Reproductions. I have maintained strict quality control over larger-scale manufacturing of my reproductions, affording clients superb craftsmanship of historically accurate designs, but at retail price points lower than vintage items. I will add additional historical designs to the Goldstone collection over the next few years. My line of heritage reproductions is available wholesale to lighting dealers worldwide; inquiries welcome, please email me.
